Multiplication comes before addition and subtraction, so 18.75 × 4 = 75 is worked out first: 245.5 + 75 − 9.25 = 311.25. A calculator that simply works left to right would give 1,047.75.

Does this calculator follow the order of operations?
Yes. Multiplication and division are done before addition and subtraction, and parentheses override both, so 2 + 3 × 4 = 14. Many pocket calculators work strictly left to right and would show 20.
How does the % key work?
After + or −, the percentage is taken of the number before it, as on a desk calculator: 50 + 10% = 55 and 80 − 25% = 60. Anywhere else it divides by 100, so 20% × 150 = 30.
Why does 0.1 + 0.2 give exactly 0.3 here?
Computers store decimals in binary, where 0.1 + 0.2 comes out as 0.30000000000000004. Results here are rounded to 12 significant digits, which removes that floating-point noise without hiding any digits that matter in everyday sums.
